The Manhattan men's golf team began their 2017-2018 season at the Ryan Lee Memorial Tournament this weekend at the Hopmeadow Country Club in Simsbury, CT, placing eighth in the 13-team field.

The Jaspers shot 305 on Saturday and 308 on Sunday to record 613 for the tournament.

Ryan Lynch (Boynton Beach, FL / Park Vista) and sophomore
Preston Shortell (Oxford, CT / Holy Cross) paced Manhattan for the weekend, as each carded 151 and finished tied for 29th place individually. Shortell shot the lowest score for the Jaspers in the first round, totaling 73. Senior
Johnny Schob's (Huntington, NY / Salisbury School) 74 was the lowest total in round two for Manhattan. He was 40th individually with a score of 153.

Fordham captured the tournament title with a 574 overall score. The Rams' James Mongey shot a 140 to win the individual title. The other MAAC teams to participate were Saint Peter's (4th), Monmouth (5th) and Fairfield (T-11th).

The Jaspers are next in action on Thursday, September 21 when they head down to Deal, NJ to participate in the Monmouth Invitational.
