ARMONK, NY — Manhattan Golf was on the clock on Friday when it played host to the opening round of the Jasper Spring Collegiate at its home course, The Summit Club at Armonk. The day's festivities began with a senior day ceremony honoring Ashley Sewell and seniors from the seven other competing schools who braved through the chilly conditions on Saturday. Despite ups and downs, Manhattan emerged in fourth place (+8), coalescing the efforts of Louis Vandeputte, Róbert Leó Arnórsson, Dimitri Mihelakos, Akshay Mandadapu and Cabell Faulkner.
HIGHLIGHTS

Freshman Louis Vandeputte landed atop the leaderboard for the home team with an even-71. Fresh off a -3 performance in round three of last weekend's Testudo Cup, Vandeputte tapped in three birdies during Friday's first round on the Jaspers' home course.

Vandeputte was -2 on the back nine alone but bogeyed the Par 4-16th and the Par 3-17th. He would par the 500-yard Par 5-18th.

In the individual standings, Vandeputte resides in a five-way tie for eighth place.

Vandeputte was tied for the lead during a long stretch on the back nine, which could bode well for his chances when round two begins on Saturday.

Freshman Róbert Leó Arnórsson did his best to recover from a slow start, which saw him drop a couple of strokes early before finishing his round at +2 (73).

Junior Dimitri Mihelakos and sophomore Akshay Mandadapu recorded scores of 74 (+3), placing them in the top 30 on the individual leaderboard.

Freshman Cabell Faulkner capped off the Jaspers' 'A' grouping with a score of 76 (+5).

In Manhattan's second group, Luke O'Grady-Rodgers and Patrik Vinter spearheaded the foursome with scores of 74 (+3).

On Saturday, the Jasper Spring Collegiate is slated to return to The Summit Club at Armonk for the second and final round teeing off at 10 am. First, a weather check will be conducted to determine if round two is playable on Saturday. If not, the scores from round one will determine the winner.
