Lewisburg, PA – Manhattan carded a two-day total of 600 to place tenth in the 2017 Bucknell Invitational.
The Jaspers recorded a 302 on Saturday, October 7 before improving their score by four strokes the next day. Sophomore
Preston Shortell (Oxford, CT / Holy Cross) was the team's leading scorer in the event. He finished eight-over par on the par-70 course by shooting a 74 on both days. He carded three total birdies, including two on the ninth and 11th holes on Sunday.
Senior
Connor O'Rourke (Jupiter, FL / FAU) made his 2017-18 debut and was right behind Shortell at nine-over par in the tournament. He tallied two birdies in the event and was even through the front nine on Sunday.
Seniors
Ryan Lynch (Boynton Beach, FL / Park Vista),
Johnny Schob (Huntington, NY / Salisbury School) and
Charles Seward (Tampa, FL / Freedom) finished 11-over par, 12-over par and 18-over par, respectively. Lynch's 73 on Saturday was the best round for a Jasper on day one. Schob fired a 72 for Manhattan's best individual round on Sunday.
Wayne State captured the tournament title with a score of 571. The Warriors' Brendan Seys won the tournament after a two-hole playoff, defeating St. Francis' Austin Renz. Both players were five-under par for the invitational.
Manhattan Golf returns to action on Monday, October 16 when they compete in the two-day Metropolitan Intercollegiate Championship, hosted by Wagner College.
