Burlington, VT - Vermont jumped out to an early three-goal lead before withstanding a multitude of Manhattan rallies en route to posting an 11-5 victory.
The Catamounts improve to 4-6 while the Jaspers conclude the non-conference portion of their schedule with a 4-5 record.
Senior Stefanie Ranagan (Yorktown Heights, NY / Yorktown) opened the scoring with her team-leading 19th goal to give Manhattan the early 1-0 lead before Vermont rallied with four-straight scores in taking a 4-1 lead at the break.
After halftime, freshman Maddie Regal (Ellicott City, MD / Howard) stopped the Catamount spurt with her first collegiate goal before senior Claire Roediger (Katonah, NY / Somers) found the back of the net to make it a 4-3 contest with 25:47 remaining.
Vermont briefly quelled the bleeding in reclaiming their two-goal advantage before senior Megan Yarusso (Brewster, NY / Brewster) quickly answered to again make it a one-score game at 5-4 with 22:57 to play.
Unfortunately, that would be as close as the Jaspers would get as the Catamounts ended the game on a 6-1 spurt to take the game by the aforementioned 11-5 count.
Senior Molly Fitzpatrick (Yorktown, NY / Lakeland) scored the fifth and final Manhattan goal while freshman Nikki Prestiano (Cortlandt Manor, NY / Yorktown) made nine saves in defeat.
Meredith Moore paced Vermont with three goals.
The Jaspers host Siena in their home opener on Saturday, April 2 at 1:00 pm.
