FAIRFIELD, CT — Manhattan women's lacrosse was subjected to the rigors of a conference road battle on Saturday at Fairfield. The end result was a 20-6 loss at the hands of the Stags.
HOW IT HAPPENED

With the Jaspers trailing 3-0 late in the first quarter, senior Ava Fernandes got Manhattan on the board with a man-down conversion at 2:49.

Coming out of the media timeout, Fairfield tacked on two more first-quarter goals to take a 5-1 lead after one.

The Stags got right to work in the second quarter, blitzing the Manhattan defense to the tune of three early goals to go up seven.

Manhattan would get another back when Ashley Bonitch found the back of the net with a free-position shot at the 8:03 mark. A Fairfield defender made an effort to keep out Bonitch's trickling shot, crashing into the net in the process.

Fairfield would end the second quarter on a 3-0 scoring run to extend their lead to nine.

The Stags scored the first three goals of the third quarter, running their advantage up to 14-2 by the 11:17 mark.

After a successful clear attempt, Julia Kerr turned on the jets on the fast break and smoked her shot past Fairfield goalie Anya Holland for the Jaspers' third goal.

At the 4:56 mark of the third quarter, Bonitch set up Emily Fiola for the Jaspers' fourth goal.

The Jaspers mustered two more goals, off the sticks of Olivia Cruthers and Lauren Maher, in the final five minutes of the fourth quarter before running out of time down 14.
