STATEN ISLAND, NY – On Friday night, the Manhattan College men's and women's track & field teams tuned up for the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Indoor Championships at the Fastrack National Invite from the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex. Going against perhaps the most competitive fields they've seen so far this season, the Jaspers posted several impressive times—including four ECAC/IC4A qualifying performances.
In the women's invitational 3000 meters, Lisa Fajardo (Brooklyn, NY) qualified for the ECAC Championships with a time of 9:53.03, which was good for 12th place. Kelly Gorman (South Amboy, NJ) also reached the ECAC qualifying standard in the 800 meters. She registered a 2:13.75 clocking to take 16th in the invitational section.
Kathy Cadet (Endicott, NY) had a season-best performance in the 200 meters. She finished third in 25.68 seconds. In the mile, Erin Spadaccini (Wilmington, DE) finished 29th in the invitational section (5:01.14) and Kaitlyn Smith (Effort, PA) was sixth in the college section (5:08.88). Marisa Robbins (Goshen, NY), meanwhile, cleared 3.75 meters (12 feet, 3½ inches) to secure seventh place in the invitational pole vault.
Manhattan entered men in just two events, but both produced IC4A Championship qualifiers. Amir Khaghani (Bethesda, MD) won the 3000 meters in 8:24.39. John Dove (Monre, NY), meanwhile, ran in invitational section of the mile and notched an IC4A-qualifying time of 4:13.72.
This was the first of two meets this weekend for Manhattan. The Jaspers host the Draddy Invitational on Saturday, with the first event scheduled to get underway at 11 a.m.
