RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Competing in her final race as a member of the Manhattan College women's cross country team, Milena Stoicev (Nis, Serbia) took fifth place in the University Division at the ECAC Championships from Van Cortlandt Park on Saturday morning.  As a team, the Jaspers took 13th place overall.  Manhattan placed 10th in the team standings in the University Division of the men's IC4A Championships.

Stoicev ran 5000 meters in a time of 18:24.9.  Alexandra Cappello (Scarsdale, N.Y.), meanwhile, capped her cross country career with a 19:32.5 clocking, which was good for 56th place.  Alexa Roda (Staten Island, N.Y.) took 75th place in 19:55.4, while Kaitlyn Rose Smith (Effort, Pa.) finished 91st in 20:25.3.  Samantha Manalastas (Smithtown, N.Y.) recorded a time of 20:48.7 to place 102ndAlyssa Windle (Redlands, Calif.) and Kelly Gorman (South Amboy, N.Y.) crossed the line in 107th and 108th, posting times of 21:05.1 and 21:07.7, respectively.

Manhattan finished 13th in the team standings with 329 points.  Sacred Heart collected 101 points to edge Holy Cross for the team title, while the individual winner was Marist's Michelle Gaye (18:09.7).  In the Championship Division, Villanova's Stephanie Schappert (17:42.4) was the individual champion and Columbia captured first place as a team.

For the men, who run the IC4A's traditional five-mile course, Kevin O'Brien (Attleboro, Mass.) was the top finisher.  He placed 30th in 26:51.5.  Shane Beyer (Brick, N.J.) took 43rd in 27:12.9, while Conor McDonough (Niskayuna, N.Y.) finished 45th in a time of 27:14.2.  Stephen Chantry (Williamsburg, Va.) (70th, 27:52.9) was the next Jasper across the line, followed by Mikael Rojeras (Sala, Sweden) (73rd, 28:00.2) and Chris Orlando (Newburyport, Mass.) (74th, 28:00.8).  Anthony Colasurdo (Lanoka Harbor, N.J.), meanwhile, posted a time of 28:25.1, which was good for 88th place.

With a score of 261 points, Manhattan ended up 10th in the team standings.  Fordham had three of the top four finishers, led by individual winner Michael Turi (25:46.0) to capture the team title.  In the Championship Division, Columbia edged Princeton for the team crown, while the Tigers' Michael Sublette (24:57.0) was the individual champion.

The ECAC/IC4A Championships marked the end of the cross country season.  Manhattan now has a quick turnaround before the start of the indoor campaign, which gets underway with the Manhattan College Opener at Draddy Gymnasium on Friday, Dec. 5.
