RIVERDALE, N.Y.- Two weeks ago, a late-round surge helped the Manhattan College golf team to a head-to-head win against Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference foe Saint Peter's College, this time around the opposition left nothing to chance.
In their second meeting of the fall season, the Peacocks dazzled from the first hole, shooting a 288 total compared to Manhattan's 302 to win the dual meet held at the Rock Spring Club in West Orange, N.J.
"It was an outstanding performance from Saint Peter's College today," Manhattan Coach Walter Olsewski said. "They had a tremendous score and although our team shot well overall, we just came up short."
For the Green and White, the 302 end result represents one of their best combined finishes of the early season, however on this day it wasn't enough to upend one of the finest teams in the MAAC.
Senior Thomas Romano led all Jasper golfers with a low total of 71, while freshman Paul Toohey carded a 73. Also contributing to the afternoon's aggregate total were fourth-year players Matt Baney, Anthony Dinelli and Jonathan Wilson, who recorded scores of 75, 83 and 94 respectively.
Manhattan will return to the golf course this Saturday, Oct. 9th when they take on Assumption College in a head-to-head matchup at the Country Club of New Hampshire in North Sutton, N.H.
