Riverdale, NY — The Manhattan harriers put on their running shoes and traveled across Broadway to Van Cortlandt Park for the Fordham Fiasco on Saturday morning. The Manhattan men's and women's team came away victorious in the team competition.
Women
-The Manhattan women captured first place with a team score of 32 points, while Columbia took second andFordham third.
-Freshman Mikaella Martin has been a revelation in Riverdale, handily winning the Women 5K with a time of 19:22. Next closest was Olivia Sophia of Fordham 14 seconds back.
-The Jaspers also took the 5th (senior Kylie Conroy), 6th (sophomore Bailee Christofis) and 7th (junior Bella Cannizzo) place spots.
Men
-The Manhattan men won the competition with 29 points, while Fordham finished second and Columbia settled in the third and final spot.
-Junior Jaxon Newton was the standard setter for Manhattan, clocking in at 28:04 to take second place in the Men 8K. Senior Jack Flanagan finished next with a time of 28:19 to take third place. For Newton, this was his second straight performance leading the way for the Jaspers, after pacing the squad in last weekend's 6K event at the Harry Lang Invitational.
