LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fl - Manhattan wrapped up the final round of the MAAC Championships with a team score 302 (+14) to put their final tournament score at 889 (+25). The Jaspers finished sixth in the tournament.
"I think this week we have shown that we are progressing in the right direction. We show a lot of promise for our future. We are able to rely on our underclassmen to handle the pressures of a MAAC Championship," said Head Coach Keith Prokop. "Our seniors were phenomenal this year in molding the future of our program in the right direction and I'm so happy for how Colby was able to end his career with a top 5 at the conference championship. It shows the hard work he has put in his entire career and he absolutely deserves it."
Colby Norton shot a 74 (+2) for the Jaspers, placing him T4th individually for the tournament, with a total score of 214 (-2). Norton had 11 birdies and an eagle this weekend, earning him a spot on the All-MAAC team. Norton's 54 hole score was the second best in Manhattan College history, as well as the best score a Jasper has ever recorded in the MAAC Championships.
Ashley Sewell and Walter Carley both finished T29th individually with a total score of 227 (+11).
Dimitri Mihelakos finished T32nd with a total score of 229 (+13). MIhelakos also was named to the MAAC All-Academic team.
Akshay Mandadapu shot the best round of the day for the Jaspers Sunday, with a 73 (+1).
Siena won the championships, shooting 860 (-4) for the tournament. The individual leader was Rider's Ben Ortwein who shot 212 (-4).
