RIVERDALE, N.Y. – In the last home game before playing four straight away from Gaelic Park, Manhattan fell to Lindenwood 20-5 on Sunday afternoon.
Lindenwood (2-3) started fast and kept Manhattan (3-3) from getting anything going in the first quarter. The Lions scored first in the first minute of the game.
Jillian Reiner tied it for the Jaspers after they won the ensuing draw control.
The Lions would score the following 10 goals to lead 11-1 with 11:52 remaining before halftime.
Brooke Leonard and
Julianna Iovine scored in the second quarter for the Jaspers. Iovine's tally was the final tally of the quarter with 2:24 left before halftime.
The teams were level in the third, with both scoring twice. Lindenwood scored the first two before Manhattan answered with two inside the final two minutes. Iovine recorded her second of the day, and
Caroline D'Agostino found the back of the next. Iovine leads the Jaspers with 16 points on the season.
The fourth quarter saw the Lions score another five to reach the final margin.
Manhattan visits Merrimack on Tuesday for its next game. The start time in North Andover, Mass, is 3 p.m.
