LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ - Manhattan fell 2-1 to Rider in a road conference meeting Saturday afternoon. The defeat put the Jaspers season record at 3-5-3, including 2-2-2 in MAAC play.
Offense was limited in the first half as the score remained 0-0 through the half. Rider was the first to strike in the second half when in the 56th minute, Hannah Freeman was able to cash in a penalty kick for the Broncs. The Jaspers quickly answered when Sami Derrico was able to find the bottom left corner of the net in the 65th minute to tie the game 1-1. The game remained tied until the 79th minute when Ava Ferrie found the top right corner for Rider, ultimately securing them a 2-1 victory.
The Jaspers were led in the net by goalkeeper Margaret Brunk. She recorded two saves in four opportunities. Sami Derrico and Olivia McMaster both attempted three shots today.
As a team, the Jaspers recorded four corner kicks and had four shots on goal.
Manhattan returns to the pitch Wednesday, October 11, when they return home to Riverdale to take on Fairfield in another conference battle.
