LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. – Manhattan fell 19-10 to top-seeded Monmouth in the semifinals of the MAAC Championship.
The sixth-seeded Jaspers scored three of the first four goals of the second quarter to get to within one, 6-5, with 7:27 left in the quarter.
Grace Lipponer scored twice and
Julianna Iovine had the other.
Monmouth (12-6) responded by scoring the final five of the quarter to create the separation.
Manhattan (11-8) got hat tricks from Lipponer and Iovine. Lipponer added an assist to finish with four points. For the season, Lipponer finished with 63 goals, and 34 assists for 97 points; all are single-season program records.
In the second, Mya Brock scored twice in the five-goal run for the Hawks.
The Jaspers got on the board first in the third quarter.
Meghan Rodino picked off a pass from the Monmouth goalie and fed
Jillian Reiner to move the Jaspers to within five, 11-6.
Monmouth scored four of the following five goals to extend the lead to 15-7. The Hawks' lead would grow to as many as 11 in the fourth.
Lipponer and
Caroline D'Agostino tallied the final two goals for the Jaspers.
The 11 wins the Jaspers recorded in 2022 equal a program record reached three other times (2019, 2009, 2004).
