Riverdale, NY. – Manhattan scored ten straight goals spanning the second and third quarters to beat Central Connecticut State 18-5 at home on Wednesday afternoon.
In the first seven minutes, the Jaspers started fast with two goals from Annie Freshour and Jillian Reiner. The Blue Devils responded with a pair of goals immediately after. The Jaspers would add two more goals in the first quarter to lead 4-2 after one.
Manhattan kept it rolling in the second quarter, scoring six goals in fifteen minutes. Three of those goals came from senior attack Meghan Rodino. Grace Lipponer added five assists and a goal in the quarter.
During the third, Manhattan (3-1) added five goals and only allowed a single goal in the entire quarter. Kenzie Kowitz responded immediately and scored less than thirty seconds after the Blue Devils. Lipponer added another two goals, and
Meghan Rodino secured two assists.
The Jaspers added four goals in the final quarter, allowing only two goals to get to the final margin.
Lipponer ended with four goals and six assists and Rodino had four goals and two assists for the Jaspers.
Annie Freshour tallied two goals and an assist for the day.
Ashley Gambardella and
Jessica Hise split time between the pipes for the Jaspers.
Gambardella had four saves for the Green and White.
Jessica Hise saved two shots in the second half for Manhattan.
