Manhattan and Siena Ends in Scoreless Draw

RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Manhattan and Siena played through the rain in the first half and ended in a 0-0 draw on Saturday afternoon at Gaelic Park.

The Jaspers and Saints had opportunities with 19 total shots in the game and nine shots on goal.

Manhattan's (2-4-2, 0-2-1 MAAC) six shots on goal were the most since the Jaspers' 2-0 win over Delaware State. Julia Nicholas has a pair of shots on goal inside the final 15 minutes. The forward was stopped by Angela Fini both times in the Siena (1-7-3, 0-2-1) goal. Those were the two shots on goal in the second half by the Jaspers.

The first three shots of the game by the Jaspers all made their way to goal. Ianah Mackey had a shot stopped by Fini inside the first two minutes of the contest. After a Jasper corner in the 13th minute, Izzy Lachcik tried to give the Jaspers the lead but was also stopped by Fini.

Fini finished the day with six saves for the Saints.

Kim Mains made two stops for the Jaspers in goal. Mains got some help from her defense in the first half to keep the game scoreless. Melina Ortiz found space and beat Mains to her right, but the shot was cleared off the line by Manhattan to preserve the 0-0 score in the 16th minute.

Saturday was the third shutout for Mains and the Jaspers this season.

Manhattan returns to the pitch on Wednesday when it travels to Fairfield for another MAAC contest.
