Brookville, NY -
Graduate student Sydney Harwood scored her second-straight game-winning goal in as many Sundays in lifting Manhattan past LIU by a 2-1 count at the LIU Soccer Park.

* With their second-straight victory, the Jaspers improve to 2-1-0, while the Sharks are now 0-3-1.

* Senior Kim Mains made three saves in improving to 2-1-0 on the year.

* Tied at 1-1 in the 88th minute, Harwood corralled a loose ball and lofted it past the goalkeeper into the left-hand corner of the goal in providing the eventual game-winner.

* Manhattan battled back to tie it in the 81st minute when senior Olivia Maldonado smashed a shot off the cross bar, before it bounced past the goal line off the deflection.

* The goal was the first of her career and now gives her four career points.

* Sophomore Ianah Mackey fed the ball to Maldonado, in registering her first career collegiate point.

* The goal was set up by freshman Amit Arora, who generated a corner kick on a shot attempt that fueled the subsequent Jasper score.

* LIU opened the scoring in the 69th minute.

* The first half was played mainly in the middle of the field, as both teams combined for just five shots and three corner kicks.

* Senior Eve Montgomery generated the best Manhattan opportunities in the stanza with a pair of shots in the fifth minute, before classmate Bri Floyd registered a shot in the 10th minute.

* The Jaspers also registered a pair of corner kicks in the 26th minute, and despite some good opportunities, were unable to get a shot off.

* Mains made the only save in the half, turning away a shot in the 38th minute.

* For the game, Manhattan posted a 9-6 advantage in shots, including 5-3 on shots on goal.

* LIU had a 5-4 edge in corner kicks.

* The Jaspers will look to make it three in a row against Merrimack on Friday, September 10 at Gaelic Park, with opening kick tabbed for 4:00 pm.
