Riverdale, NY - Manhattan lost to Fairfield 1-0 on Wednesday afternoon at Gaelic Park. The Jaspers were looking to snap a two-game losing streak, but a goal late in the second half from Fairfield's Elle Scott was the difference-maker for the Stags.
*Manhattan recorded seven shots while Fairfield poured it on with 29 shots. The Stags intensified their pressure at the start of the second half leading to Scott's game-winner in the 87th minute off an assist from Hanley Courter.
*Manhattan's Kim Mains added 10 saves to her record including six in the second half alone. The senior goalie has started all 11 games in net for the Jaspers this season.
*Three Stags' players had at least five shots, as Brooke Hernon and Stephanie Tsangaris paced the team with six apiece. Senior Eve Montgomery was the lone Manhattan player to get off multiple shots as two of her three tries were directed on net.
*Including Mains, six Jaspers players logged 90 minutes against Fairfield.
*The narrow loss to Fairfield extended Manhattan's current losing streak to three games. Manhattan has lost their last three matchups against Fairfield following a 1-1 tie in double overtime on Sept. 14, 2018.
*The Jaspers' losing streak comes after rattling off five straight wins against Wagner, LIU, Merrimack, Delaware State and Canisius all during the month of September.
*With the loss, Manhattan moved to 6-5 on the season and 2-4 in MAAC play.
*Manhattan's next contest comes on Sat., Oct. 16 at Saint Peter's. Kick-off for that game is slated for 2:00 p.m. in Jersey City.
