Box Score (PDF)

Hamden, CT -
Manhattan battled Quinnipiac to a hard-fought 1-1 draw in MAAC action at the QU Soccer/Lacrosse Stadium, as the teams played to a stalemate for the third-straight season.

The Jaspers are now 3-10-2 and 2-4-2 in the MAAC while the Bobcats are 8-7-1 and 4-4-1 in the league.

Manhattan was the aggressor for most of the first half of play, as the Jaspers registered the first major scoring threat of the game in the 12th minute when sophomore Eve Montgomery (Abington, MA / Whitman-Hanson Regional) sent a cross that almost found the back of the net.

The Jaspers finally broke through in the 33rd minute as junior Arianna Montefusco (Levittown, NY / General Douglas MacArthur) drove home a header off a perfect corner kick from classmate Tia Painilainen (Espoo, Finland / Arizona). Unfortunately, Quinnipiac answered in the 44th minute when Selena Salas blasted a shot to the far post to tie it up at 1-1.

In the second half, both teams' defense locked in and dominated play over the final 45 minutes of regulation. Montgomery fired a shot that went just wide in the 70th minute, before Quinnipiac had a pair of opportunities in the 80th minute that were snuffed out by the Manhattan defense.

In extra time, junior Sydney Harwood (Monroe, NY / Monroe-Woodbury) registered the best scoring opportunity of overtime with a shot off a corner kick that was narrowly deflected by the Bobcat netminder in the 91st minute.
