Manhattan Drops Overtime Heartbreaker At Siena

Siena defeated Manhattan 1-0 in a double-overtime thriller on the Saints' Senior Day at Siena Field.

In defeat, the Jaspers fall to 3-8-3 and 2-5-2 in the MAAC while the Saints improve to 8-7-3 and 5-2-2 in the league.

In the 106th minute, Emily McNelis headed in Haleigh Schanz's corner kick to provide the difference in the tightly-contested match.

Sophomore Tia Painilainen (Espoo, Finland / Arizona) had a chance to win it in regulation, but her shot was corralled by Siena's Kamryn Peffley in the 86th minute after skirting along the goal line.

Senior Kelly DiGregorio (Centereach, NY / St. Anthony's) was fantastic in goal, making seven saves, including stopping a penalty kick in the 81st minute.

Peffley made six saves in registering in the shutout victory.

NOTES
* Siena posted advantages in shots (24-10), shots on goal (8-6) and corner kicks (12-1).

* The home team has won each of the last four regular season meetings.

* Junior Caleigh Farrell (Freehold, NJ / UNH), sophomore Lindsey Healy (Sussex, NJ / Pope John XXIII Regional) and Painilainen all had a team-high two shots on the afternoon.

* Seniors Nicole Copping (Blue Point, NY / Bayport-Blue Point) and Victoria Reis (Rockville Centre, NY / South Side) and Painlainen are the lone three Jaspers to start all 14 matches.

* The last four Manhattan matches and six of its eight MAAC match-ups have been settled by 1-0 scores.

* The Jaspers also played in their sixth overtime match, including the fifth that has been decided in double overtime.

* Manhattan will conclude its season at home against Quinnipiac on Wednesday, October 24 with first kick tabbed for 7:00 pm.
