New Rochelle, NY - Junior
Caleigh Farrell (Freehold, NJ / UNH) scored her first career goal but it wasn't enough as Manhattan played Iona to a hard-fought 1-1 draw at Mazzella Field.
The Jaspers move to 3-7-3 and 2-4-2 in the MAACÂ while the Gaels are 3-11-2 and 1-5-2 in the league.
Farrell opened the scoring in the 47th minute, cleaning up sophomore
Maddie Barrow's (Ramsey, NJ / Ramsey) header attempt that was originally deflected by Iona goalie Emma Havrilla. Unfortunately, the Gaels would net the equalizer in the 67th minute on Amber Crispin's blast from 20 yards out.
Â
It appeared that Farrell reclaimed the lead for the visitors in the 86th minute, only to be denied when Manhattan was whistled for being offside.
Senior
Kelly DiGregorio (Centereach, NY / St. Anthony's) made five saves between the pipes for the Jaspers while Havrilla turned away 10.
