BOSTON – On Friday afternoon, the Manhattan College women's indoor track & field team hit the road for the first time this season, heading to Boston University's Track & Tennis Center for the John Thomas Terrier Classic. It was also the Jaspers' largest meet of the year so far, with the competition including a mix of collegiate and professional runners.
Manhattan's top performances came in the pole vault, where Marisa Robbins (Goshen, NY) tied for fourth place with a leap of 3.80 meters (12 feet, 5½ inches) and Breanna Brucher (Glen Spey, NY) finished in a tie for 15th (3.35 m, 10'11¾).
Paige Chapman (Abingdon, MD), meanwhile, took part in three different sprints. She grabbed 29th place in the 60 meters, posting a time of 7.93 seconds. Chapman also recorded a 25.81-second clocking in the 200 meters and ran the third leg on the Jaspers' 4x400 meter relay squad that took 19th in 3:53.85. Kathy Cadet (Endicott, NY), Mikeisha Kelly (Albany, NY) and Jasmine Davis (Ronkonkoma, NY) were the other members of the relay team.
Individually, Davis placed 32nd in the 400 meters (57.21) and Kelly was 41st in the 500 meters (1:18.31). Kelly Gorman (South Amboy, NJ), meanwhile, registered a season-best clocking of 2:13.76 to secure 29th place in the 800 meters.
The men's events will be held on Saturday. Competition gets underway at 10:30 a.m., while the action on the track begins at 11 a.m.
