GAME TWO BOXSCORENew Haven, Conn. (March 18, 2006)- Manhattan won the first game of a twin bill at Yale, 4-3 in 10 innings, this afternoon, but dropped the nightcap, 9-1.
In the first game,
Danielle Just doubled home
Stefanie Gozdziewski in the top of the 10th inning to snap a 3-3 tie. The Bulldogs loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the 10th, but Manhattan pitcher
Jill Medea worked out of the jam.
Medea pitched all 10 innings, did not allow an earned run and struck out seven.
The Jaspers scored twice in the fourth on a
Kiera Fox solo home run and a
Devon Gustafson RBI single.
The Bulldogs tied it in the sixth. With two out, Torres singled home DiBernardi, who had reached on an error. Parks followed with a double that scored Torres.
In the ninth, Manhattan took a 3-2 lead on
Liz Strein's RBI single, but the Bulldogs tied it in their half of the inning. Torres was placed on second and scored on Enyeart's double down the left field line.
In the nightcap, the Bulldogs tallied three runs in the bottom of the first to take a quick, 3-0, lead. Manhattan put up a marker of its own in the third on a Gozdziewski RBI sacrifice fly.
Yale put the game away with five runs in the fourth, and another in the fifth.
