October 3, 2003 (Riverdale, NY) - In their second home game of the season the Lady Jaspers defeat the Wagner Seahawks in three straight sets (30-15, 30-18, 30-24). Senior tri-captain
Luka Van Cauteren led the way for Manhattan recording 14 kills, 7 assists and 5 digs with a .385 hitting percentage. With the win the Lady Jaspers improve to 5-10 on the season.
They began the first game with an 8-3 run, followed later by a 10-5 run as they cruised to a 30-12 victory. In the second game, Manhattan continued their surge winning 30-18. In the last game the Lady Jaspers jumped out to an 8-2 lead, the Seahawks rallied to tie the score at 14 and led by as many as two, 18-16, before Manhattan pulled away for a 30-24 victory.
In the win the Lady Jaspers were also led by Sophomore
Maggie Pfeifer, who tallied 6 kills with a .429 hitting percentage, and senior tri-captain
Jaime Pavel who recorded 13 digs.
The Seahawks were led by Molly Judge who recorded 9 kills and 8 digs and Victoria Eagles who notched 8 kills and 4 digs in the loss.
The Lady Jaspers are back in action next Wednesday against Bronx rival Fordham.
