JACKSONVILLE, FL– The Manhattan Jaspers Women's Lacrosse team (1-7, 0-0 MAAC) fell to the Dolphins of Jacksonville University (3-4, 0-0 ASUN) by a score of 16-2 inside Rock Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After falling into an early deficit against Jacksonville, the Jaspers fought back, drew a foul on the Dolphins, and found the back of the net courtesy of Emily Fiola on a perfect pass from Olivia Cruthers.
- In the third quarter, the Green and White got back on the board on the man advantage, with Brooke Leonard finding Juliana Mahan for the team's second goal of the game.
- With just four minutes remaining, following a turnover from the Dolphins, Ella Hirsch missed the net just wide, but Audrey Ziff found Meghan Wendler, who tallied her first career goal to give the Jaspers its third of the game.
STATS AND NOTES
- Lauren Maher logged a team-high three shots, two of which were on target. One shot for Maher was off a free-position attempt.
- Maya Metz added three shots to her ledger, with two reaching the net.
- Emily Fiola registered one goal on two shots. She logged one free-position shot and logged two draw-controls. Additionally, Fiola caused one turnover.
- Olivia Cruthers assisted on Fiola's goal to open the scoring for Manhattan. The senior recorded two shots on goal in as many attempts.
- Julia Harvey caused one turnover and picked up two groundballs.
- Catie Edson picked up one ground ball and caused one turnover on the afternoon.
- As a team, Manhattan tallied 19 shots, with 11 reaching the net.
- The Green and White and the Dolphins both recorded eight saves and three free-position shots each, respectively.
