Jaspers Pick Up Series Victory over Quinnipiac

RIVERDALE, NY - Manhattan baseball played a three game series this past weekend with Quinnipiac taking two out of three games. The Jaspers won on Friday 6-3, lost on Saturday 8-14, and won on Sunday 10-3.

Game One - Manhattan 6, Quinnipiac 3

Manhattan took a 5-1 lead early, thanks to two hits and four RBI from Daniel Perez, including a two-run home run in the fourth inning. Quinnipiac would add two runs in the seventh to make it 5-3, before Manhattan added one more insurance run on a sacrifice fly from Jake Hatch, finishing with a 6-3 victory. Justin Solimine picked up the win for the Jaspers, pitching six innings of one-hit ball, allowing one earned run. Greg Shaw picked up a three inning save in relief. 

Game Two - Quinnipiac 14, Manhattan 8

In a high scoring game, both teams scored six runs in the first inning. The teams would trade runs again, to make it 7-7, before Quinnipiac scored four runs in the sixth, and four runs in the ninth to run away with game two. The Manhattan offense was led by Trevor Hansen who had two hits including a three-run home run in the first inning. Frankie Marinelli and Perez scored two runs each for the Jaspers.

Game Three - Manhattan 10, Quinnipiac 3

In Sunday's finale, the Jaspers jumped to an early 7-0 lead, including two runs in the first inning, and five in the third. This included a two RBI single from Chase Swain, as well as a two-run home run from Hansen. After a Quinnipiac home run in the fourth, Hansen would power another home run in the fifth, this time solo. The Jaspers would add two runs in the seventh to make the score 10-1, before a two-run Quinnipiac home run would be the last scoring of the game, ending the game with a 10-3 Manhattan victory. Hansen would finish with 3 RBI and 3 runs, while Marinelli and Hatch scored two runs apiece for Manhattan. John Kwiatkowski started the game, throwing 4 2/3 innings for the Jaspers, before Garrett Garbinski threw the remaining 4 1/3 and picked up the win.
