Baseball Hosts Quinnipiac This Weekend

RIVERDALE, N.Y. - The Manhattan baseball team will host Quinnipiac for a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) showdown beginning on Friday at SUNY Westchester.
 
Game 1: Friday, April 26, 3 p.m.
Game 2: Saturday, April 27, 1 p.m.
Game 3: Sunday, April  28, 12 p.m.
 
The Preview
Manhattan (12-26, 5-10 MAAC) will return home after dropping a 16-4 decision to Stony Brook in midweek action. in a midweek contest. The Jaspers are seventh in the MAAC with a 5-10 conference mark. Daniel Perez leads Manhattan with a .331 batting average, 43 hits, 27 runs, and .457 on-base percentage. Vincent Davis has a team-high six home runs to lead the Jaspers. 
 
The History
The all-time series between Manhattan and Quinnipiac has the Jaspers trailing 14-5. Manhattan is on a one-game win streak over the Bobcats. The Jaspers are 2-4 against Quinnipiac at home. Last time out, Manhattan played Quinnipiac on May 1, 2022, with an 11-8 win.
 
The Opponent
Quinnipiac enters the weekend with a 15-21 overall record and a 6-6 MAAC record to sit in fourth place. The Bobcats are on a five-game win streak dating back to April14. It's most recent win was a 15-14 win at Central Connecticut State. Jared Zimbardo leads Quinnipiac with a batting average of .351 to go along with 47 hits, 33 runs, and 25 RBIs. Mason Ulsh has an ERA of 7.69 leading the Bobcats in innings pitched with 48.0 with a 1-5 record. He has 44 strikeouts.

The Jaspers rank third in the MAAC in pitching (5.80 ERA). Drew Wyers is second in sacrifice flies with seven in the league. Frankie Marinelli is second in the MAAC in walks with 33.

Justin Solimine is second with 45.2 innings pitched. Michael Staiano leads the squad in batters struck out with 47.
