RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Manhattan women's lacrosse finishes their 2024 season, hosting Iona. The final score of the game was 12-10 in favor of the Gales.
Prior to the game, the Jaspers honored their one and only senior this year, Julianna Iovine, who has appeared in 59 games for the Jaspers. She has appeared in all 17 games this season and last. In her career, she has scored 79 goals, dished out 33 assists, collected 74 ground balls, and won 80 draw controls.
After the ceremony, the Jaspers got off to a rough start, being outscored 5-2. The two goal scorers for this quarter were Iovine, scoring the first for the Jaspers, and Reagan Mullins scoring the second.
The Jaspers were outscored in every quarter of this game, with the exception being the fourth where they topped the Gales 3-1 before the end of the game. Iovine scored two of the three goals in the fourth to bring the Jaspers back within two goals. However, the final six and a half minutes of the fourth went scoreless, leaving the Jaspers stranded two goals behind.
Leading the Jaspers this afternoon was the senior Iovine. With the support of her family both on and off the field, she put up a massive six goals, three ground balls, one caused turnover, and five draw controls. Her stats tallied up to more than half of the Jaspers' goals for the game.
