RIVERDALE, N.Y. – The Jaspers grabbed a narrow victory against the La Salle Explorers in double overtime this weekend, 13-12.

After a hot start for the Jaspers in the first quarter, La Salle would either tie or outscore the Jaspers for the remaining three quarters of regular time play.

"We learned a lot from today's win. We were challenged in many ways, but we are proud of the team for coming out on top. They maintained composure in overtime once again. We are looking forward to applying these lessons to our mindset in future games," said head coach Jenna Dingler.

The Jaspers blitzed the Explorers with a total of six goals in the first quarter, with three different Jaspers scoring. After four unanswered goals, the Explorers were finally able to get on the board with one goal to break up the Jasper run.

The second quarter saw the Jaspers begin to cool off, only notching two goals with about 10 minutes separating each. The Explorers used this opportunity to begin the long and arduous task of shaving down the Jaspers' lead.

The next two quarters saw the Explorers encroach on the Jaspers' lead, eventually tying the game in the last two minutes of the fourth with a woman-up goal from Katie Johnson.

As the sun began to set, the two teams enter double overtime. With a fired-up Jaspers bench cheering the players on, Ashley Bonitch, last game's star player, whipped the ball past the Explorers' goalie with 21 seconds to spare.

The Jaspers saw a wide range of scorers this game, with the top two players dropping four goals each. Reagan Mullins and Olivia Cruthers made up the majority of the Jaspers' offense today, with Cruthers earning her hat trick in the first quarter alone.

The Jaspers play at home one last time this week, on Saturday March 2 at 3:00 PM where they will take on FDU.
