POUGHKEEPSIE, NY - The Jaspers will look to rebound inside a tough road environment in Poughkeepsie against the Marist Red Foxes on Saturday evening. Manhattan struggled in all facets during the Kids Day contest and MAAC opener against the Saint Peter's Peacocks on Thursday morning. Both Nitzan Amar and Ines Gimenez Monserrat led the way with a combined 28 points and nine rebounds. Senior Petra Juric ranks third in rebounding-per-game in the MAAC, averaging 7.0 rebounds-per-game. Graduate forward Leyla Ozturk ranks seventh averaging 6.3 per-game. Heading into Saturday, the Jaspers are 0-2 coming off of losses this season. In the most recent meeting against the Red Foxes last season, then senior Gimenez Monserrat tallied 13 points behind the leader Anne Bair, who tallied 16 points in the one-point heartbreaker last March.
Scouting the Opposition:
•Marist is coming off of a double-digit overtime victory over Mount St. Mary's in Emmitsburg on Thursday night, by a score of 61-50.
•Second year head coach Erin Doughty is leading the charge for the Marist Women's Basketball program, which also happens to be her alma mater.
•Junior guard Jackie Piddock ranks 11th in DI in assist to turnover ratio.
•December 7th at America East's Bryant Bulldogs, saw the Red Foxes record its 700th all-time victory as a Division I program.
•Marist leads the charge in defense in the MAAC, where the Red Foxes hold its opponents to 58.5 points-per-game. The Jaspers and Fairfield sit second holding its opponents to 60.3 respectively.
•Redshirt Junior guard Lexie Tarul leads the MAAC in three-pointers per game averaging 2.4 buckets from beyond-the-arc.
•Head Coach Erin Doughty, was named to the Hudson Valley Forty Under 40 List on February 21, 2024.
•This season is her 23rd year of association with the Marist women's basketball program, which previously included time as a student-athlete, student-assistant, assistant coach, associate head coach, and now Head.
•Marist sports an undefeated 3-0 record inside McCann Arena this season.
