Riverdale, NY — From the get-go, Manhattan's chances of victory over Quinnipiac looked good, and they were up for the task in posting a 4-2 win at Gaelic Park. Sophomore striker Ziv Dahan scored two goals as the Jaspers offense took it to Quinnipiac to move four points ahead of the Bobcats in the standings. Manhattan is now alone in sixth place with four conference games left.

Dahan opened the scoring in the 20th minute on the set piece, when Nassim Akki's free kick from 30 yards out was headed first by Ayoub Boumelala which set up Dahan's header for the goal.

After Quinnipiac fired back in the 25th minute with a goal off a free kick from Noe Cabezas, Manhattan found another chance to pounce on the Bobcats defense. Only 62 seconds later, Dahan had his second goal of the game when Sebastiano Musu played in a beautiful corner which grazed Dahan's head to put Manhattan back on top. All said, the scoring festivities produced three goals in six minutes.

Dahan's six goals on the season ties him with Sergio Gonzalez Fernandez of Iona and Momo Diop and Bryan Akongo of Rider.

Manhattan was a step quicker than the Bobcats all night, and it showed once again when the Jaspers added their third goal of the night 26 seconds into the second half. A clumsy throw-in from Quinnipiac turned the ball over in their own end, which led to Henry Hamilton finding Tony Yeboah who crossed in to Harry Bark for the finishing touch. Bark now has three goals on the season.

Manhattan concluded their scoring with a penalty kick conversion from Henry Hamilton in the 57th minute. The hard-working Hamilton has 14 goals in his Manhattan career as he left the pitch with four points on Wednesday night. He has 10 penalty goals in his Manhattan career, and only missed his first one tonight on another chance in the 62nd minute.

Quinnipiac got one goal back in the 61st minute on a long shot from Francisco Rivera that beat Ludvig Malberg.

Manhattan has four games left which will come at Niagara (10/26), vs. Rider (10/30), at Iona (11/2) and at Sacred Heart (11/6).

Coaches Reaction

Head coach Jorden Scott on his consistent message to the team all season: "We talked early in the season about having plenty of options and asking the guys to sacrifice a little of their own personal ambitions and I think we saw that tonight…the fact that we were able to bring on some of the guys off the bench tonight gives me great belief we can now move forward and score more goals."

Head coach Jorden Scott on Dahan's form: "What we're seeing now is the best of him…He does a really good job taking care of himself and making sure he's in the best position possible. That performance from him tonight was exceptional and I'm really happy for him."

Next Time Out

Manhattan will make the 418-mile trek to Buffalo to face Niagara (2-8-2, 0-3-1 MAAC) on Saturday at 2 p.m. The network for streaming is to be determined.
