Women's Soccer Prepares for Next Two Opponents

BALTIMORE, M.D. - The Manhattan women's soccer team will compete in its third straight road contest to begin the 2023 season Thursday, August 31 when it travels to Baltimore to take on Loyola University Maryland. The Jaspers will then get to come home as the 2023 home opener will take place Sunday, September 3 when the Jaspers take on LIU.

The Jaspers have started the season 1-1, taking a 2-0 defeat to New Hampshire, followed by a 2-1 victory over Wagner. 

Loyola University Maryland: Loyola leads the all-time series 12-2-3, although the teams have not met since 2012, when Loyola took the victory 1-0. Loyola begins the 2023 season 2-2, including 2-0 on their home field. Leading scorers include Baylee DeSmit with five points, and Elizabeth Gallagher with four.

LIU: The Jaspers lead the all time series with LIU, 2-0. The two teams last met in 2021, a game which the Jaspers won 2-1. LIU begins the 2023 season 2-1, including two road victories. LIU will take on NJIT, Thursday August 31 before traveling to Riverdale to take on the Jaspers. Leading the way for the Sharks has been Noa Bartels van Bosbeek who has three points, as well as a team leading ten shots and five shots on goal. 

Leaders: Through two games, Arancha Antunes and Kaylee Stowell lead the way with two points each, while Manhattan has been led in net by Margaret Brunk who has posted 12 saves in 15 attempts, good for an 80% save percentage.
