RIVERDALE, N.Y. - The Manhattan women's soccer team will open up the 2023 fall season on Thursday, August 24 when it travels to Durham to take on New Hampshire. The Jaspers will then travel to Staten Island to take on Wagner, Sunday August 27.
Head coach Brendan Lawler is in his 13th season leading the women's soccer program. Lawler brings back an experienced group, returning 82% of last years starting unit.
New Hampshire: New Hampshire leads the all-time series, 1-0, taking the victory in their lone prior meeting on August 26, 2016.
Wagner: The Jaspers lead the all time series with Wagner, 14-5-2. Wagner took the last meeting 1-0 on August 27, 2022.
History: Manhattan is 5-5 in season openers over the last ten years, and have won their second game of the season, each of the past three years.
The Past: The Jaspers finished the 2022 campaign 3-7-5 overall, 1-5-4 in league play. The Jaspers finished 2-2-3 last season at Gaelic Park.
Leaders: The Jaspers' leading overall points scorer in Julia Nicholas returns. Additionally the leading goal scorer in Sami Derrico returns for her senior season. Additionally, all three of last season's leaders in minutes return to lead the defensive unit.
