RIVERDALE, N.Y. – After snapping a lengthy losing streak with a resounding 9-0 win in game two at Wagner on Wednesday, the Manhattan softball team returns to action on Saturday at home against Fairfield.

Manhattan (4-23, 0-2 MAAC) used a six-run fourth inning to lift it to the win. Marika Deemer picked up her first win in the circle. At the plate, Gabriella Mazzotta went 3-4 with two RBI and runs scored. Tajiana Picket also drove in a pair. Maddy Weir scored twice and reached base twice. Seven of the nine starters for the Jaspers had a hit.

Fairfield (7-15, 2-2) will visit Quinnipiac on Friday before coming to Riverdale on Saturday. The Stags lost to UConn in midweek action after sweeping Rider on Monday. Charli Warren is hitting .358 to lead the Stags. Warren also leads the team in runs scored (14), hits (24), total bases (27), walks (11), and stolen bases (11). Allie Bridgman is 2-6 in the circle but owns the lowest ERA (3.21) and WHIP (1.48) on the team.

Mazzotta picked up hits in both games against Wagner to extend her hitting streak to five games. The center fielder has already had a nine-game hitting streak this season.

Hedlund and Lauren Rende have recorded hits in three straight games.

Deemer's complete game on Wednesday was her second of the season. The shutout was the first by a Jasper pitcher this season.
