RIVERDALE, N.Y. – The Jaspers begin MAAC play on the road against Canisius on Saturday before returning home next week.

Manhattan (4-5) and Canisius (5-2) will meet in Buffalo, N.Y., at noon.

The Golden Griffins have won their past two games, the most recent against Youngstown State this past Sunday. This matchup will be the first game of MAAC play for the Griffins too.

In their most recent match, the Jaspers battled Kennesaw State (1-8) last Wednesday in Kennesaw, Ga. The Jaspers topped the Owls 10-8. The Jaspers started the game fast, scoring the first goal inside the opening 45 seconds. This was the closest quarter of the game for the Owls, with the Jaspers leading by one at the end of the first, 3-2. The Jaspers' offense continued to push as they built up a lead as large as five by the end of the second quarter. In the second half, the Jaspers' offense began to slow as the Owls' began to ramp up, bringing the game back within one. However, the Jaspers shut down the Owls' comeback attempt.

Key players of this game were the Jaspers trio of two-goal performers, Julianna IovineReagan Mullins, and Jillian Reiner. Ashley Gambardella played all 60 minutes, finishing with a save percentage of 61.9-percent.

The Jaspers are second in the MAAC in ground ball pick-ups (155). Iovine is eighth in the MAAC in assists with 16. Reiner leads the team in goals with 17.
