Manhattan Visits Annapolis to Visit Navy Saturday

RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Manhattan seeks a 2-0 start to the 2023 season when the Jaspers visit Navy on Saturday.
 
The Jaspers started the season with a 9-5 win over St. John's on Saturday. Kyle Gucwa had four goals and an assist to lead the offense. Liam Walshe tallied a hat trick for the Jaspers. At the face-off 'x',  Liam McDonough went 12-of-15 for the Jaspers on Saturday. Joe Persico made 14 stops against St. John's.

Saturday will be the third meeting all-time between the two programs. Navy won the first two, including last year's meeting on Long Island, 9-6. 
 
McDonough was named MAAC Face-off Player of the Week for his efforts against St. John's. McDonough's 80-percent win rate leads the MAAC.
 
Navy is 3-0 in the young season. The Midshipmen topped Mount St. Mary's in the opener before beating Queens (N.C.) and Hofstra. Xavier Arline leads the offense with 12 points (5 goals, 7 assists) in 2023. Henry Tolker leads the team in goals with nine. Four different players have appeared in goal for the Midshipmen. Pat Ryan has started two games and has posted a .750 save percentage.
 
Gucwa's five points moved the senior's total to 92. The Pottstown, Pa. native averages 2.9 points per game as a Jasper and has 68 goals and 24 assists over 32 games.
 
Walshe's hat trick against St. John's was the attackman's eighth of his career.
 
Perisco's made his first appearance for the Jaspers on Sunday after backing up Brendan Krebs for the last three years. The Briarcliff, N.Y. native's 14 stops are the second-most in a game by a MAAC goalie in 2023.
