BRONX, N.Y. – The Manhattan Women's Basketball team is returning to Riverdale with a win in the Battle of the Bronx match-up at Fordham. The Jaspers were victorious with a 58-44 win to earn their first road game of the season.

"I'm incredibly proud of the team effort tonight to secure this victory!" expressed head coach Heather Vulin. "I felt at different times in the game that each player stepped up and led us to victory. I also felt we made adjustments from our last game and continue to show our commitment to both sides of the basketball."

The Jaspers (2-1) took a 31-21 lead into halftime, backed by a 13-point performance from freshman Tegan Young, who took advantage of the floor space, connecting on 3-of-5 three-point attempts, in addition to hitting all four free throw attempts.

Manhattan shot 66.7 percent from the floor in the second quarter and 75 percent from three-point range while limiting the Rams to just four made field goals in the second quarter.

Nitzan Amar hit a long-range three as time expired to give Manhattan a 17-point lead heading into the final quarter.

Manhattan's most significant lead was 19 points with 7:06 remaining in the game. Fordham managed to outscore Manhattan 14-10 in the final quarter, but it was not enough to defeat the visiting Jaspers.

Amar finished with a game-high 17 points, six assists, and three steals. Young recorded 16 points, and Anne Bair added 14 points and four assists, giving the Jaspers three players in double figures.

Tonight's win snapped an 11-game losing streak to Fordham, earning the Jaspers their first win at the Rams since December 18, 2010.

Fordham (2-2) was led in scoring by Aminata Ly, who had 10 points and 12 rebounds. Emy Hartford also added 10 points. The Rams shot 36.7 percent from the floor and 20 percent from three-point range.

The Jaspers continue to play on the road with another in-state game; this time, Manhattan will face St. Johns on Sunday, November 19 at 2 p.m.
