RIVERDALE, N.Y. – The Jaspers fell to Marist today in Poughkeepsie in a volleyball match. The final set scores were 28-30, 9-25, and 17-25.
The Jaspers lost all three sets against the Red Foxes today, coming closest in the first set and scoring within two points.
The first set saw the most action on both teams, with each team scoring 17 kills and executing over 40 attacks each. For the first half of the set, each team went point for point, keeping the set within one or two points. It wasn't until both teams were tied at 15 that the Red Foxes had their first run, putting them up by five points. Shortly after, the Jaspers answered back with their own run, knotting up the set again at 21. The back-and-forth continued for the remainder of the set, pushing the game past the regulation 25 points. The set eventually ended when the Red Foxes were able to score two consecutive points, winning the set 30-28.
The second and third sets saw the Jaspers fall behind early, allowing the Red Foxes to gain an early lead.
Manhattan will return to action on Sunday, October 8th, at 2:00 p.m. to face Siena in Loudonville, N.Y.
