Jaspers Topped by Iona

RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Manhattan wrapped up the week by losing the match today against Iona 3-1. The final set scores were 25-27, 20-25, 23-25, and 22-25.
 
The Jaspers gave it their all in the first set, winning the set after reaching the 25-point mark with a three-point run. Despite their efforts, the Jaspers would go on to lose the subsequent three sets of the match.
 
In the first set, both teams fought hard to take the lead from each other. The first set saw a total of eight lead changes, with the Gales taking the first point of the set. However, the Jaspers quickly fired off a four-point run to take the lead. This set the tone for the remainder of the set, with each team crawling back to retake the lead from their opponent. Towards the end of the set, the Gales had a wide lead on the Jaspers, 23-19. The Jaspers kicked it into gear and went on a four-point run to tie the set. The Jaspers used this momentum to break free from the tie and win the set 27-25.
 
The Jaspers went on to lose the next three sets.
 
Camila Gomez led the Jaspers in kills, totaling 17, while Sarah Emmons contributed 27 assists.

Manhattan will play again on Tuesday, October 17th, at 7:00 p.m. against Stonehill College in North Easton, MA.
