Vs Niagara
Time: 12 p.m.
The Manhattan women's soccer team has another home date on October 14, when they host conference foe Niagara on Senior Day, in an afternoon contest.
The Path: The Jaspers are coming off of back to back defeats, taking a 1-0 loss vs Fairfield, and a 2-1 defeat at Rider. Manhattan is now 3-6-3 overall, and 2-3-2 in conference play for the 2023 season.
Leading the Way: Kaitlyn Cooke and Sami Derrico have scored two goals apiece for the Jaspers, while four players have scored one goal in what has been a balanced scoring attack for Manhattan. Margaret Brunk has made 62 saves at the goalkeeper spot after facing 78 shots.Â
All-Time Series: Manhattan is 7-13-4 all time against Niagara, and 3-4-1 in their last eight matchups. The Jaspers took a 3-0 defeat on the road, in their most recent matchup in 2022.
Niagara: Niagara is 3-9-2 thus far this season, including 2-3-2 in conference play. This past week they drew 1-1 at Siena, and won convincingly vs Saint Peter's, 6-0.
Standings: With three games remaining, a MAAC tournament berth could still be in the cards for the Jaspers. As it stands, Manhattan and Niagara are tied for 7th place in the conference with eight points, both sitting just one point back of a spot in the six-team tournament. Saturday's game is crucial in determining who stays alive in the playoff hunt, and who will have some climbing up to do at the end of the season.
Senior Day: Four seniors will be honored before the game for senior day festivities. Saturday's honorees will be Defender, Izzy Lachcik, Defender/Midfielder, Reina Callahan, Forward/Midfielder, Sami Derrico, and Defender, Ianah Mackey. It is encouraged to arrive early to support the Jasper Seniors, as the ceremony will begin at 11:40 a.m.
