RIVERDALE, N.Y. – The men's and women's swimming and diving teams will compete in their final regular season meet this Saturday against Iona at the Jeffrey A Loria Aquatic Center at the Horace Mann School.
The Jaspers and Gaels will meet at 1 p.m. on Saturday. Saturday will also be senior day for the Jaspers.
Manhattan will be coming into this meet off a loss from both the men's and the women's team last Saturday against Fairfield.
Highlights for the men's team include: Branden Deiss placing third in the 800-meter freestyle with a final time of 9:13.77. Andrew Lebak placed fourth in the 100-meter backstroke with a time of 1:02.72, only .39 seconds behind third. Abelardo Caragena placed second in the 200-meter butterfly. Jonathan Carsen placed fourth in the 100-meter butterfly, earning Manhattan two points. In the relay events, Manhattan placed third in the 200-meter freestyle relay with a 1:43.95.
Highlights for the women's team include: Kyla Guilfoil placing third in the 100-meter backstroke with a final time of 1:09.88. Abbey Mink placed second in the 50-meter freestyle (27.83). Mink also finished third in the 100-meter free. For team events, Manhattan finished third in the 200-meter freestyle relay with a final time of 1:55.97.
Iona's women's team (8-1) will be coming into the meet off a seven-game winning streak, most recently against Fairfield, where they won 151.5-142.5.
Iona's men's team (3-5) will be coming into the meet off a loss against Fairfield, where they fell 199-95.
