Pair of Matches Await Men's Soccer This Week

RIVERDALE, N.Y. – After battling to a 1-1 draw at La Salle last week, the Manhattan men's soccer team prepares for a two-match week.

The week opens tonight, Sept. 6, with the anticipated yearly installment of the "Battle of the Bronx" matchup with Fordham at 7 p.m. While facing tough competition, the Rams enter the match at the same mark as the Jaspers (1-1-1). Fordham opened the season against No. 16 Hofstra, dropping that match 2-1, and then a 0-0 draw against No. 17 Providence.

Most recently, they came away victorious (2-1) against Long Island, a team Manhattan will host next week at Gaelic Park. Manhattan has won the last three meetings with Fordham, all by a one-goal margin.

Fordham has used a balanced offensive attack to get to where they are, with all three goals scored this year have come from three different players.

The Jaspers' second match of the week features Columbia University, who will be coming uptown for a Friday night match at Gaelic Park at 6 p.m. The Lions, who have a game with Stony Brook tonight before the meeting with the Jaspers, have dropped the only match they have played thus far, 2-1 to George Washington.
