RIVERDALE, N.Y. – The Manhattan women's soccer team returns home for a pair of contests this week against Rider on Wednesday night and Siena on Saturday afternoon.
Manhattan (2-3-1) played its last four games on the road, going 1-2-1, since beating St. Francis Brooklyn 1-0 on Sept. 1 at Gaelic Park.
Last time out, Manhattan fell 3-0 at Niagara to open MAAC play for the Jaspers. Niagara scored three times in the first half.
Audrey Johnstone made her season debut in goal for the Jaspers and made seven saves—five in the first half.
Rider (4-3-2) comes to Gaelic Park on Wednesday off a 3-0 win over Saint Peter's on Saturday. Three different goal scorers supplied the three tallies. Makenzie Rodrigues leads the offense for Rider. The senior from Seattle has four goals and an assist through nine games this season. Camryn Dees has supplied three assists to lead the team.
Siena (1-6-2) opens its MAAC schedule at Quinnipiac on Wednesday before coming to Gaelic Park on Saturday. The Saints picked up their first win of the season at UAlbany on Thursday, 2-1. Annie Bagnall has four goals on the year to lead the Saints.
Defensively, the Jaspers are second in the MAAC in goals against average (1.00). Fairfield and Canisius led the league with a 0.89 GAA.
Kim Mains continues to lead the MAAC in save percentage (.833). Offensively,
Sami Derrico leads the offense for the Jaspers with two goals through six games.
