HAMDEN, Conn. – Manhattan won the third and final game of its weekend series at Quinnipiac, 11-8, on Sunday afternoon.
All of Manhattan's (18-22, 8-10 MAAC) runs came in two innings—the fourth and sixth.
The Jaspers scored five in the fourth after Quinnipiac (13-25, 6-9) took a 1-0 lead in the second.
After Trevor Santos tied the game with an RBI single to right, Matt Padre hit a three-run home run to left-center to give Manhattan a 4-1 lead. It was Padre's second homer of the season. Harrison Treble followed with a single and later scored on a David Bermudez single.
Manhattan added six more runs in the sixth after Quinnipiac got to within two, 5-3.
The first two batters of the inning were retired before Treble doubled. Bermudez followed with his team-leading 10th home run of the season. Three batters later, Frankie Marinelli made it 9-3 with a two-run double. Alfredo Delgado followed with the Jaspers' third homer to make it 11-3.
Quinnipiac scored each of the final three innings to get within three. The Bobcats got two across in the bottom of the ninth but did not bring the tying run to the plate.
Padre and Bermudez had three RBI and Marinelli and Delgado had two for the Jaspers.
Manhattan returns to the diamond on Wednesday at Army before visiting Dartmouth next weekend.
