RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Manhattan had won four in a row before Marist came to Gaelic Park on Wednesday and took both halves of a doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon.

Game 1: Marist 5, Manhattan 3
All eight runs in game one were scored over the three and a half innings.

Megan Hedlund gave Manhattan (11-25, 5-6 MAAC) a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the first. The catcher blasted her seventh homer of the season to right field. The opposite-field blast brought in Kaitlyn Holly came on a 0-2 pitch.

Marist (19-24, 7-6) answered with its second solo homer of the game. Alyssa Grupp tied the game at two with a solo shot. Shea Walsh led off the game with a solo homer.

Lauren Rende gave Manhattan the lead once again in the bottom of the second. Rende singled to center field to score Gabi Mills, who worked a two-out walk to extend the inning.

Rende's single put runners at the corners, but the inning would end on a groundout.

The Jaspers would get two runners on with two away in the third and fourth innings but could not get runners home in either frame.

The Red Foxes would take the lead in the third. Carolina Baratta singled, and Maddie Pleasants hit a sacrifice fly to right. Meghan Davis provided insurance with a solo home run in the fourth.

Calista Phippen came in relief and pitched five shutout innings for the Red Foxes to collect the win. Jessie Rising went the distance for the third start in a row for the Jaspers.

Game 2: Marist 10, Manhattan 3
Marist (20-24, 8-6 MAAC) scored the first 10 runs of game two. Manhattan's (11-26, 5-7) three came in the bottom of the seventh.

Baratta doubled in the first run in the top of the first. The Red Foxes would add three in the fourth before Davis hit her second homer of the doubleheader in the fifth. Morgan Gianelle came off the bench and hit the first pitch she saw for a grand slam in the top of the seventh to make it 10-0.

Kylie Carr walked to start the inning and came around to score on a Rende RBI single. Two batters later, Marika Deemer brought in Megan Gillooley to make it 10-2. Rende scored the final run on a fielder's choice.

Rende's RBI was her 13th of the season, which is third on the Jaspers.

Phippen also collected the win in game two after pitching six shutout innings. Ava Metzger logged a complete game for Manhattan.

The Jaspers head to Buffalo this weekend. Manhattan visits Canisius on Saturday and Niagara on Sunday.
