RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Manhattan outscored Rider 13-4 in a doubleheader sweep on Sunday at Gaelic Park.

The Jaspers have won four in a row overall and hand the Broncs their second and third straight losses in MAAC play.

Game 1: Manhattan 7, Rider 1
Manhattan (10-24, 4-5 MAAC) scored single runs in the second, third, and fifth innings before pushing four across in the sixth to take game one.

Gabrielle Mazzotta started the scoring with an RBI single to center in the second. One inning later, Annie Moore homered for the second time this weekend to double Manhattan's lead.

Jessie Rising held Rider (24-19, 8-5) scoreless until the fourth. A double and a single started the frame for the Broncs. The run came on a Jasper error two batters later.

Manhattan restored the two-run lead on a double steal in the fifth. In the sixth, Kaitlyn Flood doubled in a run to start the scoring. Rising followed with single to bring in Flood. The final two runs of the inning came from a wild pitch and a forced pick-off in a first and third situation.

Rising pitched around trouble in the sixth and seventh innings. Rider left a pair of runners aboard in each frame, including runners at the corners to end the game.

At the plate, Rising went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. In the circle, the senior tossed her second complete game of the weekend to move to 5-3 on the year.

All seven Manhattan runs were scored by different players. Four different players drove in runs for the Jaspers.

Game 2: Manhattan 6, Rider 3
Manhattan (11-24, 5-5 MAAC) used a pair of home runs in game two to complete the sweep.

After the Jaspers took a 1-0 lead in the first, Megan Gillooley hit a two-run shot to center in the second to make it a 3-0 Manhattan lead. It was the centerfielder's second of the year.

In the fifth, Megan Hedlund extended the Jaspers' lead to 6-1 with her two-run homer to center field. It was the sophomore's sixth of the season and third this week.

In the sixth, Olivia Burroughs made it interesting with a two-run single down the left-field line. Ava Metzger was able to retire the next three Broncs to get out of the inning.

Metzger picked up her second win and complete game of the weekend. The first-year Jasper worked around six hits and four walks to pick up her fifth win of the season.

Hedlund and Gilloley drove in five of the seven runs for the Jaspers. Gabriella Mazzotta scored twice for the Jaspers.

Manhattan returns to action on Wednesday, April 27, against Marist, with the doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. at Gaelic Park.
