RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Manhattan got four goals from Sean MacKinney and Jake Nicolosi in a 14-11 win over Canisius on Saturday. The pair finished with five points each.
The win kept the Manhattan (4-5, 2-1 MAAC) perfect at home (4-0) in 2022.
After Canisius (2-8, 1-1) scored the game's first three goals, Manhattan answered with four in a row to take the lead it would not relinquish.
MacKinney's first goal of the game gave Manhattan a 5-4 lead in the second quarter. Once again, the graduate student gave the Jaspers a lead, 7-6, with his second of the game at the 3:30 mark of the third. Nicolosi found the back of the net less than a minute later to give Manhattan a two-goal advantage.
Manhattan's first goal of the fourth came from MacKinney that restored a two-goal advantage for the Jaspers. Later in the quarter, MacKinney found Liam Walshe for a man-up goal that gave Manhattan a 12-10 advantage.
Canisius got within one, 12-11, with 7:46 remaining in the fourth. Nicolosi then scored twice precisely two minutes apart. The attackman scored his 10th of the season with 5:36 remaining before striking when the Jaspers were man-up.
Nine different Jaspers got on the scoresheet. Walshe and Kyle Gucwa had two goals for Manhattan. Brendan Krebs made seven stops between the pipes for Manhattan.
Next for the Jaspers is a trip to Siena next Saturday, April 9. The face-off between the Jaspers and Saints is scheduled for noon.
