Manhattan Drops Non-Conference Game at UConn

STORRS, Conn. – The Manhattan women's lacrosse dropped a road game to UConn, 16-6, on Wednesday afternoon.
 
Jillian Reiner tallied her eighth of the season to tie the game at 1-1 in the first quarter. UConn (5-1) then reeled off nine straight goals to take a 10-1 lead into the half.
 
The Huskies, who are receiving votes in the national poll, started the third quarter with two more goals to lead 13-1.
 
Julianna Iovine netted the second goal of the afternoon for the Jaspers with less than a minute to play in the third. It was Ionvine's seventh of 2022. Julia Fernandes supplied the assist. 
 
Grace Lipponer put away her 18th goal of the season with her goal in the fourth. Lipponer's tally started a stretch where the Jaspers scored four of the following five goals. Meghan Rodino added two goals and Lipponer wrapped up the run with 89 seconds to play.
 
Manhattan (4-2) got three points from Lipponer and Rodino.
 
The next game for the Jaspers is on Monday, Mar. 14, at Vermont at 3 p.m.
