Manhattan picked up its 14th win in MAAC play and ends its regular season with an overall record of 19-10.
Marist (8-20, 6-14) jumped out to a 12-10 lead at the end of the first quarter.
The Jaspers used a second-quarter surge to score 23 points while holding the Red Foxes to only eight. During the quarter, the Green and White managed to amass its largest lead of 18. Manhattan shot 44% from the field and went six for seven from the free-throw line. The Jaspers secured 18 rebounds to Marist's four on the defensive side. The Green and White ended the half with a 33-20 lead.
The Red Foxes fired back to take the lead by one in the third quarter with 3:45 to play. However, the Jaspers rebuilt their lead with a 13-3 run to enter the final quarter, leading 47-38.
The fourth proved to be a battle, with the Foxes coming within three 59-56 with under a minute to play. As time counted down, the Green and White put their defense on display and secured a shot-clock violation on Marist with seven seconds to play. Marist hit a three to tie the game at 59 and send the game into overtime.
In overtime, freshman Petra Juric won a big offensive rebound to find Emily Lapointe, who threw a skip pass to Dee Dee Davis for a three. The 3-pointer would put the Jaspers ahead 64-60 with 49 seconds to play in the game. Sini Makela and Emily LaPointe both hit a pair of free throws to produce a final score of 68-60.
Davis finished with a game-high 22 points and two rebounds. Courtney Warley added 11 points, 13 rebounds, and three blocks. Juric had a stellar performance with 13 points and 10 rebounds for Manhattan. La Pointe had 11 points, eight 'boards, and two steals.
Defensively, the Jaspers grabbed 58 rebounds, six steals, and six blocks. Manhattan forced 13 Marist turnovers and converted those into 13 points.
The Jaspers will return to action on Thursday in the quarterfinal round of the 2022 MAAC Championship in Atlantic City. The Jaspers can be seen on ESPN+.
