RIVERDALE, N.Y. – On Saturday afternoon, a six-goal third quarter helped Manhattan get past LIU, 15-11.

Manhattan (5-3) got seven points from Grace Lipponer and five from Meghan Rodino.

The Jaspers broke a 4-4 tie in the second quarter two goals before halftime. Julia Fernandes broke the tie with 6:02 to play before Lipponer completed her first-half hat trick with 3:28 to play before halftime.

Six of the first seven goals after halftime went to the Jaspers. Rodino supplied back-to-back goals within 90 seconds to make it an 11-5 game. Ashley Bonitch capped the stretch with her fourth of the season to make it 12-5.

LIU (1-8) did make it interesting with a four-goal run of their own. The Sharks scored twice inside the final minute of the third and added two more to start the fourth to make it a 12-9 game.

Rodino answered the run with her fourth and fifth goals of the afternoon to bring the advantage back to five, 14-9, with 6:13 to play.

Rodino's five brings her season total to 20, which is a new single-season career-best for the senior. Lipponer's four lifts her season total to 28, which is only four off her total from last season. Reagan Mullins and Fernades finished two goals for the Jaspers.

Up next for Manhattan is a trip to Sacred Heart on Wednesday. It is the final non-conference game of the season for the Jaspers.
