QUEENS, N.Y. – Manhattan won the rubber game of a three-game set against St. John's on Monday afternoon, 6-2.
Manhattan (6-8) got a four-run top of the first inning. The Jaspers sent 11 hitters to the plate and could have added more runs but left the bases loaded. David Bermudez brought in the first run of the inning. Bermudez came around to score on a Matt Padre double to make it 2-0. Harrison Treble, who reached on a bunt, scored on a wild pitch. Alfredo Delgado worked a two-out walk to bring in Padre.
The Jaspers did not need a hit to take a 5-0 lead in the third. Treble was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and two outs.
After St. John's (2-13) got two runs in the fourth, Manhattan added insurance in the top of the eighth by a Trevor Santos sacrifice fly.
Manhattan used four pitchers in the win. John Farley picked up the save while Connor O'Neill earned the save.
The Jaspers return to action at LIU on Wednesday before visiting Hofstra this weekend for games against the Pride and Merrimack.
